Beth Israel Congregation is in our second century, first having first conducted services in 1909. We have been in our present location since 1974, and currently have about 50 families that make up our membership.
Mission Statement:
Beth Israel Congregation is an inclusive Jewish congregation that offers a welcoming, nurturing and enriching home to those who seek a meaningful and enduring connection to Judaism. Mindful of its heritage and participation in the greater community, the Congregation supports the diverse spiritual, educational, and social needs of its members.
At present, the congregation remains unaffiliated and prides itself on being eclectic in its services. We draw extensively from the traditional liturgy, as well as from reconstructionist and reform approaches to Judaism.
Our members come to us from the greater Greeley area. Some come from as far west as Estes Park, East from Fort Morgan, South from Denver and north from Bellvue. You will be welcome to join us from anywhere.
Activities of the congregation include services, our sisterhood, adult, education, and usually a monthly social hour.
Our members are also involved with social action through the Weld Food Bank and the Greeley Interfaith Association.
Currently, our religious school is in the process of reorganization. We have two instructors who are preparing children's services and Jewish activities for the younger set of our congregation. Our library has an extraordinary number of books both for adults and for children that can be checked out and enjoyed at home.
Lifecycle events, such as B'nai Mitzvot, weddings, funerals, and baby namings occur periodically. Our facility includes a sanctuary, social hall, library, classrooms, and a kosher kitchen.
The congregation administers a Jewish cemetery east of Greeley in Lynn Grove Cemetery.
